Pointless Things To Do (Mostly For Boys)

THINGS YOU CAN DO WITH ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
A Guide To Inmaturity
Blink wildly and then close your eyes really tight for an interesting light show
(Amusement Potential: 1-5 minutes)
See a variety of blobs, stars and flashes. Try to make out shapes and see if your subconscious is trying to send you a message (perhaps that funny shape is saying, 'send all your money to urban75.com'?)

See how long you can hold a note
(Amusement Potential: 4-20 minutes)
Not that much fun, but it sure passes the time. Play with a friend, or try to beat your own personal best. Inhale deeply and then try and make a noise for as long as you can. Earn extra points for making your partner laugh or ending on an amusing note.

Try to not think about penguins
(Amusement Potential: 1-5 minutes)
This is especially hard, because by trying too much, you remember what you were trying to avoid thinking of. If you try too little, you end up thinking about penguins anyway.

Use your secret mind power
(Amusement Potential: 5-10 minutes)
Pick a passing by and try to use your mind power to command them do something, like drop their bag or knock into someone. The law of averages dictates that sooner or later one of your mind commands will come true, so you can convince yourself that you really have super human powers and waste even more time trying them out.

Pretend you're a robot
(Amusement Potential: 1-3 minutes)
Walk down the street with mechanical movements, adding 'zzzzzt' sounds with each motion. Pretending to have a motor broken in, say, your left hand can add at least 30 seconds more entertainment.

Scratch yourself
(Amusement Potential: 1-3 minutes)
Go ahead, scratch yourself now. Even if nothing itches, go ahead. Doesn't that feel pretty good?

Rate passers by
(Amusement Potential: 10-15 minutes)
Secretly award passers by marks out of ten as you go along, offering (unsaid) expert criticism over their clothing, hairstyle and footwear choices.

Repeat the same word over and over until it loses its meaning
(Amusement Potential: 1-3 minutes)
Pick a random word out of a magazine and say it aloud to yourself until it becomes a meaningless set of noises.

Pinch yourself
(Amusement Potential: 1-3 minutes)
What is pain? Why is it unpleasant? There's nothing physical about it - it's all in your mind. Plus, after pinching yourself for awhile, boredom will seem nice next to being in pain.

Try to swallow your tongue
(Amusement Potential: 1-2 minutes)
There's not much to say about this one. It is possible, but really stupid.

Pretend to be a car
(Amusement Potential: 5-10 minutes)
Make appropriate revving noises in your head as you walk along and add a racing commentary as you pass strangers in the street. Use blinking eyes as indicators for extra authenticity.

Make Star Trek door noises
(Amusement Potential: 1-2 minutes)
Stand by an electric door to a bank or something and make that silly "Scccccccchwop" sound heard whenever people popped on to the bridge to hang with Captain Kirk.

Look at something for awhile, shut eyes, study after image
(Amusement Potential: 2-5 minutes)
Another great time waster. It takes about 30 seconds of staring to create an after image, and the image is then viewable for about the same length of time. Fun to combine this one with pushing on your eyes.

Get yourself as nauseated as possible
(Amusement Potential: 5-10 minutes)
Best achieved by looking straight up and spinning around. Try to be so dizzy you can't even stand up. This is also entertaining due to the "makes boredom seem a lot better" effect (see "Hurt Yourself").

Invent a weird twitch
(Amusement Potential: 5-10 minutes)
Adopt a bizarre twitch (e.g. flicking your head irregularly, twitching with eye or busting out sporadic cough noises) and try it out when you go shopping.

Make a low buzzing noise
(Amusement Potential: 15-30 minutes)
Hours of fun in libraries! Keeping a totally straight face and looking nonchalant, make a low pitch humming/buzzing noise and see who reacts.

****Note, this is not written by me, but please enjoy it!****

Bewildering Business

This design is awesome! Not only do they keep it simple and clean, but they add the extra twist of the two holes for the fingers. We are all about getting the viewer involved and this card does just that. The first time I viewed it, I got a good laugh! There are so many new ways to design business cards these days that it can be hard to stand out from the rest. Every designer is faced with the challenge of creating a unique card that also brands the company. This is definitely one of those cards where not only is the designer satisfied, but the employee who leaves behind the card knows that they have left a good impression. Great job!

Shopaholic?

Sometimes being bored can drive you bonkers!! And I know that one of the best ways to kill this is shopping, but two major problems are: money and transportation! So what better way to shop for fun then online! You don't need any money to look, and you don't need a car either to enjoy the beauty and excitement of viewing those fabulous boots and a new dress for the first day of school! And the best part is you are most likely not going to buy the item considering it is online, and you have to pay shipping, unless of course your my brother! It is the ultimate cure for debt in this world! So like I said, if your bored, SHOP! Get on amazon or ebay, or even some pointless junk site like archiemcphee.com, and create a WISHlist of stuff you can't have! HAVE fun!

Colorful and Fun-a-ful

Are you really really bored? Well, then read my list of ten things to do when your bored! If you already did then you have permission to read on! Sometimes when I can't find something to do, I COLOR!!! Enjoy these coloring sheets I found off the internet, that will keep you busy for months! If you happen to finish one, email me the pic. of it at- s-dance@live.com! Thanks.
Click on one, print, and color! If you don't know how to do that, please contact a local preschool teacher for help!

Bored of Being Bored?

10 Things To Do On A Boring Summer Day! For Girls

(Boys Edition will be released soon)

Okay, so we know that summertime is a time to hang out with friends and family. But sometimes your family might be doing things, and sometimes your friends might be busy on vacation or something. So what are you supposed to do on a summer day being all alone? I've decided to show you 10 things that can help cure your boredom on a summer day. So lets get started!

1.) Finish projects you've started! Like a journal you started to write in but then forgot about. Or maybe you started to organize your shoes in your closet but then gave up. Or making a scrapbook of your summer. A bunch of us have unfinished projects, and it feels really good to finish something you started.

2) Take a relaxing bubblebath! When we get older, we become to old for our rubber duck and our Mr. Bubbles bubblebath, and we just take quick (or extensive) showers. I like to plug my iPod dock in my bathroom, dim the lights (but leave on some lights so you can see) and fill my bathtub with some bubbles, and just relax. It's fun.

3) Watch chick flicks! Curl up on your sofa with some buttery popcorn and watch fun chick flick movies such as He's Just Not That Into You, The Notebook, or Confessions Of A Shopaholic. If you're not in the mood, you can watch any movie you like. Sometimes if you're on a lazy summer day it's fun to just watch movies you enjoy -- maybe an old one you forgot about?

4) Give yourself a mani-pedi. In the summer, sometimes we are just lazy and forget about our poor toes and nails. BUT, it is also flipflop season, and it's kind of gross to have dirty, long toenails! Start with removing old or chipped polish, cut them until they are neat (but not TOO short or it will become infrown) and paint them a pretty color you like! If you don't have nail paint, just clean them and they will still shine.

5) Go to the library, or read a good book! OK, so many of you are probably like "Awhh, that's lame!" But I admit, some books I really like and really get into over the summer. I love The Clique and Twilight series!

6) Hang up posters in your room! A lot of us read teen/tween magazines (such as M?) and they always come with cute posters! If your room is bland and uncolored, try to spice it up with a poster of your favorite star.

7) WRITE, WRITE, WRITE. Write blogs!

8) Clean your room. Okay, your parents probably tell you to do this enough. But sometimes you feel more light and clean if your room doesn't have junk all over the floor! Every room needs a good summertime cleaning. And don't you get embarressed if one of your friends come over to hang out and you have potato chip bags and clothes all over your floor?

9) Make videos and pictures! I know a bunch of you have digital cameras, and most computers have Windows Movie Maker (or iMovie, for Macs!) Making movies or picture slideshows is a great way to make Summer 2009 a memorable and fun summer.

And 10...10) PLAY OUTSIDE, GET FRESH AIR!!!! Most of you want to start school feeling rested and healthier, right? Everyone needs a good amount of sunshine a day. Good for your body AND your mood. If you sit in your computer room and play Sims 3 all summer long (ahem, ahem, like me...just kidding!) then you will go back to school feeling tired and nasty. Well that is the first 10! I might be doing other blogs like this. Tell me if you liked it! :)

Melt-in-Your-Mouth Melon

When is a watermelon not a watermelon? When it's a refreshing frozen confection combining tangy raspberry sorbet, sweet honeydew, and chocolaty chips.

RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
1 honeydew
Raspberry sorbet
Chocolate chips
1. Halve the honeydew, discard the seeds, and chill it overnight in the fridge. 2. The next day, put the halves in the freezer for 15 minutes, pull them out, and pack them with sorbet, gently evening off the top. 3. Using a chilled knife, slice each half into halves again (make sure the melon is sorbet side up). 4. Finally, insert a row of chocolate chip seeds and serve immediately.

You can also use just sorbet or sherbet, without any honeydew.
